Dear EAS members and friends,

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to a special afternoon of culture and connection as we gather for the Chicago premiere screening of The Memoirs of M.A. Draz and a farewell reception honoring Egyptian Consul General in Chicago, Ambassador Nada Draz.

An award-winning film, it tells the story of one of the renowned scholars of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif who pursued and received his Ph.D. from Sorbonne University, France after finishing his studies at Al-Azhar in Egypt. Writing two dissertations while at Sorbonne, his seminal work is considered a landmark in Islamic ethics.

This will be an opportunity to celebrate this rich journey between the East and West while also expressing our appreciation for Ambassador Draz’s dedicated service to our community. Ambassador Draz will conclude her post in Chicago this summer.

The screening and reception will take place on June 14th at the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures, the University of Chicago from 5 – 8:30 p.m.

This is a free event but requires registration, so please RSVP through this form by June 7th

We look forward to seeing all at this community gathering.  EAS Board
